China Initiative
The Carolina Asia Center’s China Initiative was born out of UNC-Chapel Hill’s expanding focus on Chinese language and area studies. Over the past decade, the University has strategically connected with Chinese universities, researchers, students, and alumni through engaged partnerships, exchange opportunities and academic programs. Additionally, Carolina has cultivated networks of alumni and colleagues living in China. These developments have been made possible by a growing interest in China among UNC-Chapel Hill students, faculty and alumni.
Triangle East Asia Consortium
The Triangle East Asia Consortium (TEAC) was established in 1972 to promote dialogue and collaboration between East Asian studies faculty at the three major research universities in the Triangle Area: Duke University, North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Chinese Language Program
UNC-Chapel Hill’s Department of Asian Studies offers undergraduate major and minor concentrations in Mandarin Chinese.
China-Focused Student Organizations
Ten of Carolina’s 40+ Asia-related student organizations have a specific China focus. China-focused student activities range from dance troupes to residential communities to the internationally renowned Duke-UNC China Leadership Summit.
