In particular, Dr. Butler is supporting the CAC’s current grant, “Bringing Southeast Asia Home,” and working with our Vietnamese language program.
Dr. Butler is trained as a theoretical linguist, with a focus on the phonetics and phonology of mainland Southeast Asian languages. More recently, her research has focused on facilitating oral histories among North Carolina’s Southeast Asian diaspora communities. She holds degrees from Cornell University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the University of Virginia.
Outside of her academic pursuits, she enjoys planting flowers and listening to Dolly Parton.
