UNC-Chapel Hill faculty members who want to propose co-curricular programs related to East, South and Southeast Asia can get support from the Carolina Asia Center.

For one-time events, the CAC works with faculty to arrange for visiting speakers, film screenings, or cultural performances. We are able to support honoraria, travel and accommodation (under the constraints of our federal funding, see the rates online here) for guest speakers or performers, or costs such as film screening fees. The CAC is not generally able to provide food for co-curricular events.

If you are a faculty member with a proposal for a co-curricular event, please write to Associate Director Dr. Kevin Fogg with your proposal, a prospective budget, and how it connects to UNC’s teaching and research about Asia. The CAC’s director will evaluate the proposal based on its contribution to teaching and research on Asia at UNC and CAC staff capacity.

If you wish to propose an ongoing or larger event, it may also be necessary to partner with other units on campus for co-sponsorship. You can be in touch with Dr. Fogg or with CAC Director Prof. Pamela Lothspeich to discuss possibilities.

The Carolina Asia Center supports diverse Asia-related events. However, CAC co-sponsorship of any talk, seminar, documentary screening, film screening, performance or celebration does not constitute endorsement of or agreement with the views presented therein. As an academic institution, we value diverse perspectives that promote dialogue and understanding.
