Asia Scholar Network
The UNC System Asia Scholar Network exists to create a community of scholars working on Asia-related topics across the state of North Carolina.
Southeast Asian Approaches
Southeast Asian Approaches is a faculty working group of nearly 40 scholars from UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University and N.C. State that increases the visibility of Southeast Asian studies in the Triangle.
Triangle East Asia Consortium
The Triangle East Asia Consortium (TEAC) was established in 1976 to promote dialogue and collaboration between East Asian studies faculty at the three major research universities in the Triangle Area: Duke University, North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Korea Forum
The Korea Forum promotes awareness, dialogue, and scholarly activities on Korea-related subjects at the University of North Carolina and beyond. Since its founding, the Korea Forum has developed a multi-disciplinary community of scholars, teachers, graduate students and Korean diaspora in North Carolina through academic seminars, conferences, guest lectures, films series, and performances on various Korea-related topics. The Korea Forum also facilitates dialogue between academia and diverse local and global communities.
Triangle Center for Japanese Studies
The Triangle Center for Japanese Studies (TCJS) was established by faculty from Duke University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and North Carolina State University to encourage inter-institutional collaboration in Japanese Studies and Japan-related education throughout the Triangle and the Southeast U.S. With the aim of strengthening the well-established Japan studies community in the Triangle, the TCJS administers a number of programs, including research groups and a monthly forum, that encourage further interaction between faculty and students of Duke, UNC, and NCSU.
South Asia Faculty Working Group
The South Asia Faculty Working Group aims to promote public and scholarly engagement with the arts, cultures, politics, religions, history, languages and literatures of South Asia and the South Asian diaspora. By providing a forum for scholars to discuss projects, ideas, and approaches in research and teaching, the working group seeks to deepen understanding of the region on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus and in the surrounding community. The group is supported by contributions from the Center for Global Initiatives and the Carolina Asia Center, with additional funding for specific events from other campus departments.
