The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness: The Life and Times of Hayao Miyazaki

January 28, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Come join Phillips Ambassadors Christy Harris and Gabe Allen as they reflect on their unique study abroad experiences in Japan and share their appreciation for the work of Tokyo-based filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki and the team of animators at Studio Ghibli. Following an introductory presentation, the audience will enjoy a showing of the 2013 feature length documentary “The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness,” which masterfully portrays the tranquil discipline of the Studio Ghibli team as they pioneer two of their final masterpieces, “The Wind Rises” and “The Tail of Princess Kaguya.” Doors open at 6 p.m., with Mediterranean Deli catering on first-come, first-serve basis. Come enjoy good food and an excellent documentary. The event is sponsored by the Phillips Ambassadors Program and the Carolina Asia Center.
