Korea Forum: Diplomat Joel Wit on North Korea

Joel S. Wit is currently a visiting scholar at the U.S.-Korea Institute and a senior research fellow at Columbia University for East Asian Studies.  Mr. Wit received his M.I.A. from Columbia University in 1979 and his B.A. from Bucknell University in 1976. He has served as a Senior Advisor to Ambassador Robert Galluci where he developed strategies to help resolve the crisis over North Korea’s nuclear weapons program.  He has also worked for the State Department’s office of Strategic Nuclear Policy.  Mr. Wit is also the founder of the 38 North website and is a member of the Brookings institution.
