Katy Clune, ‘Home in a New Place: Making Laos in Morganton, North Carolina:’ Opening Reception

February 5, 2016 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

This spring, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Center for the Study of the American South will host Home in a New Place: Making Laos in Morganton, North Carolina, a exhibit by Southern Foodways Alliance collaborator Katy Clune featuring photography from her master’s degree thesis fieldwork.

Clune’s project explores, through the world of one family, how Lao-Americans have crafted their home in a small southern community. Learn more through her recent Gravy piece, Tasting Laos in the North Carolina Mountains, and stay tuned for her upcoming Gravy podcast in February.

The reception will be held at the Love House and Hutchins Forum at UNC, and Lao food will be provided by Raleigh restaurant Bida Manda.
