Introducing Hinamatsuri (Girl’s Day): Japanese Presentation
February 28, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Come and learn about Hinamatsuri! Hinamatsuri, also called Dolls Day or Girls Day, is a Japanese holiday celebrating young girls. During this holiday, Japanese families display a set of dolls depicting members of the royal court.
The students of JAPN 418, “Service Learning in Japanese,” with support from the Carolina Asia Center, have been graciously allowed to display an intricate set of these dolls in the Nelson Mandela Auditorium in the FedEx Global Center. They will hold two presentations to introduce the history of the holiday and the meaning of each of the dolls on display.
Please come and join us at the Nelson Mandela Auditorium for
- an English presentation from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, February 25th
- a Japanese presentation from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, February 28th
Parking will be available in the parking deck below the Fed Ex Global Center for free after 5 PM on Friday or for $1.00 on Monday after 5 PM (use the ParkMobile app).
