Engaging Students in International Issues: The Choices Approach

Join World View at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the CHOICES Program of Brown University for an exciting one day professional development opportunity.
This workshop will introduce participants to the Choices Program’s award-winning resources and approach to teaching about contested international issues. Choices units “Competing Visions of Human Rights: Questions for U.S. Policy” and “The Limits of Power: The United States in Vietnam” will be provided to participants. The program is geared toward grades 7-12, but the curriculum can also be adapted for community college courses. Secondary instructors and community college instructors are encouraged to attend. A limited number of scholarships for pre-service teachers will also be offered. 1.0 CEU will be offered for the program.
