DEADLINE: Southeast Asia Research Group Pre-dissertation Fellowship

May 1, 2016

The Fellowship, made possible by a generous grant from the Henry Luce Foundation, will be awarded to up to six (6) social science Ph.D. students who must travel to Southeast Asia in order to obtain the advanced contextual knowledge needed for a high-quality dissertation proposal. Preference will be given to students enrolled in the fields of political science, economics, and sociology.

Graduate students in good academic standing who have completed their first or second year of a social science Ph.D. program in the U.S. or Canada, regardless of personal nationality or citizenship, but who have not yet advanced to candidacy with a completed dissertation proposal are eligible to apply for this fellowship. Funds may be used for either summer or winter travel; awardees are expected to spend at least six (6) weeks in Southeast Asia.

Interested students should contact the SEAREG Program Manager (r.kwon@duke.edu). For information about the Southeast Asia Research Group (SEAREG), visit: www.seareg.org.
