DEADLINE: Postdoctoral Associate, Global Asia Initiative

April 15, 2016

The Global Asia Initiative at Duke University’s Center for International Studies, seeks applications for a postdoctoral position in Asian Connections from the Fall 2016 for one year, renewable for another.  Asian Connections, also known as Inter-Asian Studies by our partner institution, the Social Science Research Council, is the study of connections between two or more Asian societies historically or in the contemporary period.  The research may be comparative, but the goal is to reveal regional or trans-local processes.

Applications will be entertained from both humanities and social science fields. The selected candidate will pursue their own research in conjunction with the projects of the Global Asia Initiative and will have the opportunity to organize an international conference during their tenure. If interested, the candidate may also teach one course, but since a relevant department at Duke will need to authorize it, please indicate your interest early, at the time of application. The salary will be $45,000 per year.

Information about the Global Asia Initiative is available on the website: http://sites.duke.edu/globalasiainitiative.

To apply, email resume/CV, statement of interest, research proposal and names and contact information for 3 references to timothy.mcdermott@duke.edu.  Application deadline: April 15, 2016.
