This program is geared toward local scholars who are working on Asia and interested in collaborating with UNC-Chapel Hill. The Carolina Asia Center provides access to library resource materials at UNC for such scholars to conduct Asia-related research. The center charges a fee of $100 to scholars working at a UNC system school or an HBCU in North Carolina. For others, $200 is charged to conduct the necessary paperwork to issue a UNC OneCard that provides access to the library and other facilities.

To apply, you must be a scholar with a Ph.D. or in at least your 3rd year of doctoral studies. UNC requires you to identify a UNC faculty member and department that you will be collaborating with, and to explain that you will be working on UNC faculty driven research. Preference is given to scholars who currently hold a teaching position. The term limit for the research affiliate status is 5 years.

Please send your curriculum vitae and a cover letter to Mary Lagdameo, Associate Director of the Carolina Asia Center, at
