Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Kevin Hewison completed his Ph.D. in 1984 at the School of Human Communication, Murdoch University. He has held academic posts at Murdoch University, the Australian National University, the University of Papua New Guinea, the University of New England and the City University of Hong Kong in social science and area studies disciplines. Dr. Hewison was the Foundation Chair of Asian Studies at the University of New England and then Director of City University’s Southeast Asia Research Centre. He has held visiting positions at Mahidol University (Thailand) and the University of Warwick. In January to June 2012, he was Visiting Professor of Asian Studies in the School of Social Sciences at Singapore Management University.
He is the author of more than 170 publications on Southeast Asia, democratization and globalization. His current research interests include: globalization and social change in Southeast Asia, especially Thailand; democratization; and labor issues.
