Southeast Asian Approaches is a faculty working group of nearly 40 scholars from UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University and N.C. State that increases the visibility of Southeast Asian studies in the Triangle. By providing a forum for scholars to discuss projects, ideas, and approaches in research and teaching, the working group supports collaboration in Southeast Asian studies across all disciplines. The group also sponsors public events in order to reach audiences on and off campus, invite student and community participation and engage discussions of broad relevance.

The group is supported by contributions from the Carolina Asia Center and the Center for Global Initiatives, with additional funding for specific events from the Departments of Geography, Anthropology, Religious Studies, Global Cinema and History.
